In todays dentistry bonded tooth colored fillings have essentially replaced the use of silver amalgam for the treatment of tooth decay. These materials are now highly predictable, long lasting, and have a much more pleasant appearance than the old metal fillings.
After achieving profound anesthesia, the decay is removed from the affected teeth. The teeth are then isolated to avoid moisture contamination. The surface of the tooth is then cleansed and conditioned. A desensitizing solution is applied. Finally the filling material is placed, shaped, and cured. Any excess is removed, the bite is adjusted, and the completed restoration is polished.
Bonding is the artistic placement of a tooth-colored plastic material to teeth to enhance their color, shape or length. You can have one tooth re-created with bonding, or we can transform your entire smile! And the effects are not merely cosmetic. Bonding protects your teeth from additional wear and damage.

Bonding can usually be completed in one appointment. The first thing we will do is carefully select the tooth-colored bonding material, called composite resin, to match the color of your own teeth. Next, we lightly reduce your teeth with the dental handpiece. A conditioning solution is applied to roughen the teeth and ensure that the resin will bond to your tooth.Placement of bonded filling material Then we apply the bonding material, sculpt and contour it into the proper shape, and then harden it with a harmless, high-intensity light. Lastly, we smooth and polish your new bonded teeth. Bonding is a comfortable procedure that can provide dramatic results in a relatively short amount of time.
